چکیده

Emergence of systems biology motivated more comprehensive and integrative approaches for modeling physiological processes. Presented study proposes a software framework to integrate multilevel and multiscale models for physiological processes. The aim of the study is to provide the interfacing mechanisms to facilitate the integration of models from multiple research groups increasing the ability to construct complex simulations of physiological models. In this paper, high level design of the proposed system, integration of physiological models and the architecture to modularize the integration are presented. As the proposed system targets a multiscale and multilevel integration of mathematical models, complex diseases or physiological processes effecting many organs or organ systems, like diabetes, are within in the application areas. Besides enhancing the model development processes; the presented study will accelerate the development, analysis and testing of integration approaches for multiscale and multilevel physio-

A Generic Framework for Multi - Disciplinary Environmental Modelling ∗

We present a generic framework for computer-based environmental modelling which supports the coupling of simulation models from various sciences to perform integrative simulations. The framework is, in principle, applicable to any kind of model which simulates spatially distributed environmental processes with an arbitrary, but discrete, time scale. During an integrative simulation the framewor...

Toward an Integrative Multimodeling Interface: A Human-Computer Interface Approach to Interrelating Model Structures

Among the different sorts of challenges for the modeling and simulation community, two types of challenges face us: challenges that optimize space and time for the computer, and challenges that improve the human interface to the modeling and simulation process itself. While of these types of challenges are important for the future health of simulation, we present a grand challenge of the latter...

Graphical simulation environments for modelling and simulation of integrative physiology

Guyton's original integrative physiology model was a milestone in integrative physiology, combining significant physiological knowledge with an engineering perspective to develop a computational diagrammatic model. It is still used in research and teaching, with a small number of variants on the model also in circulation. However, though new research has added significantly to the knowledge rep...

Ontology Based Design for Integrative Simulation of Human Physiology

Mathematical modeling of physiological processes of human body has been studied in all levels from cell up to organs and organ systems. Although the initial idea for working on individual models of human physiology was to have a better understanding of the whole mechanism, not enough integrative approaches have been developed yet. To build an integrative framework for physiological processes, t...

Modelling and architecture of a generic framework for integrative environmental simulations

In the face of Global Climate Change the scientific evaluation of possible impacts on the natural and social environment became more and more important in recent years. In this context computer-based simulation has emerged as a means of choice in many scientific disciplines as it facilitates predictions about future impacts of climate change based on well-known physical and societal relations. ...
